Take Daiko (Bamboo Drum)

This Japanese Drumming class is focused on sharing the members joy of playing together with their audience.  Unlike many other Japanese drumming groups, this group uses bamboo as the main percussion instrument.

Starting by making their own bachi (drum sticks), then cutting the bamboo, and making stands, this group's goal is to perform at community events, especially the temple's annual Bon dance in June.

Our instructor is Sensei (teacher) Takako Hashimoto

Here is a video of our first performance
